今天買了nvidia geforce 7600gs

到官網下載了NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9631-pkg1.run

結果不能用
No precompiled kernel interface was found to match your kernel

確實沒有「linux-headers-2.6.16-2-686」，但應該有
「linux-headers-2.6.17-2-686」
我的作法是：
使用xorg內建的顯示卡驅動程式「nv」。

如果需要 openGL 的 3D 功能才用 nVidia 官方的 driver

只需要一般 2D 顯示的話，用 xorg 內的 nv 即可。
(看影片或是一般作業，都不需要用到 openGL 3D)

有些nvidia晶片用nv模組連動都動不了

就是想用3d才買了新卡

Unable to find the kernel source tree for the currently running kernel.

選擇"否"後就直接跑出 No precompiled kernel.....嗎?

「linux-headers-2.6.17-2-686」

裝了就可以了
但現在螢幕秀出NO SUPORT

我的螢幕是42吋的LCD

改天換原來的電腦螢幕

應該是可以了

但是發現畫面都很大

遠低於電視的解析度(1024 800 640)

因此啟動時出現一個很大的 nvidia LOG然後電視就出現NO SUPORT
可是用Ctrl+Alt+F?切換可以發現F7有畫面很大然後閃一下就沒畫面了

過程中有下列訊息

WARNING: Your driver installation has been altered since it was initially
installed; this may happen, for example, if you have since installed
the NVIDIA driver through a mechanism other than the nvidia-installer
(such as rpm or with the NVIDIA tarballs). The nvidia-installer will
attempt to uninstall as best it can. Please see the file
'/var/log/nvidia-installer.log' for details.

然後重開機後又要在重來

可高手可以解答嗎?

No Precompiled的話....可以不用從網站下載
只要你有裝kernel header (符合你用的版本的)

就可以讓他自動compile給你這個kernel的module
No support 你可能要看看顯示卡,螢幕 的解析度是怎麼樣了

現在可以用了
我的是42"LCD
在xorg.conf加上"nvidia-auto-select"找到適合的解析度
現在用800x600 就ok了
