實在有點看不出來是滑鼠的問題還是...

能否將顯示卡（nv的嗎？）和滑鼠以及XF86Config-4檔案post出來。

弟在想會不會是 frame buffer 的關係？試著不要用 fb 看看,
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 重新設定 X Server。

or, 弟切身的愚蠢經驗是：.xinitrc 忘了加 Window Manager 的啟動命令...

唔, 您言重了! 弟只是無法確切了解您的意思才問的, 只是用語措詞上的代溝。

Well... 您還沒有裝 Window Manager 啊?!我想問題就是這個了！
如果您還不想裝而只是想試試進不進得去 X,
安裝 X Window 的時候應該會預設安裝 twm,
試試如下步驟...

1. # joe ~/.xinitrc
(因為小弟用 joe 當文字編輯器所以這裡是 joe,
如果您用 nano 或 vi 就用它們囉...)

exec twm

2. startx
您應該就可以看到 twm 綠色的桌面了, 我想...

不好意思, 插個花, 就算不裝任何 window manager 還是可以進入 X, 只是進入 X 後, 會看到一個醜醜的, 背景是灰色的畫面, 所以應該不是 window manager 的問題。
可試試在 console 下指令 xinit -- :1 會在 display 1 開個醜醜的畫面, 如果可看到畫面, 就表示 X 可正常啟動, 那就要再另外想辦法啦

一般來說裝了 X Window 都是建議要再裝 Window Manager ( Icewm、 WindowMaker....)或是整合式環境如 KDE 、 GNOME ，如果您不想放太多心思再建構一個屬於自己的 desktop 環境，我是建議您可以直接安裝 KDE 或是 GNOME ，這樣可以省卻很多 DIY 的時間，畢竟每個人的用途不同，如果沒興趣真的沒必要花費太多時間再調教桌面環境上...

KDE 的安裝 ..可以善用本討論區搜尋的功能，相信有足夠的資訊幫助您完成安裝..
