can 't use Firefox 3.03

I using Debian 4.0 r4a, I download and installled firefox 3.03 by internet, and use gtk2.1 for it,
but I get a problem, I can not connect to internet, it display error is: offline, not detect connection, and the panel icon on right side corner is NO NETWORK CONNECTION.

in fact, i open a console as root:
# pon dsl-provider
dsl-provider.so is preloaded.

then I can browing internet with epiphany-browser !!

so, brother! why I can not use Firefox 3?

if your version is etch, please change it into sid or lenny!
Then,
apt-get update; apt-get upgrade!
by the way, type apt-get install gtk-engine!
then you can upgrade you gtk to 2.10 to use firefox!

在我的 EeeBox 上無法使用 debian 提供的 iceweasel, 或是從 firefox官網下載的 firefox 3.
如果我使用 firefox 官網的 FF2，則會在程式啟動的時候就卡住。

但是奇怪的是，
我可以使用 debian 提供的epiphany-browser(gecko or webkit 都可以)
我也可以使用 opera.

但是用 iceweasel/FF3 的時候，我確定不是離線狀態
不論我按任何一個書籤，或是我任何的url，
只看到瀏覽器跑了不到一秒，就維持在空白的畫面。
而視窗下方的狀態列卻顯示 "完成".


詭異的是，我在公司使用的桌機，也是 debian lenny
差別只是 amd64 和 i386 的差別(公司的是AMD64)

用其他的 browser 完全沒有這種情形。

看到原PO的內容，有提到 pon dsl-provider
讓我想到，我的 EeeBox 也是撥接 pppoe 上網的
所以，我跟原PO至少有一個共通點，就是我們擁有IP的介面都是ppp0
而不是 eth0

iceweasel應該不會去看 eth0 有沒有IP吧？

使用 epiphany 很讓我起毛壞的一件事就是，
它依賴 gnome 太多東西了。
要讓 epiphany 記得我的書籤或是其他設定等等
我還必須啟動 gnome 的一些打死我也用不到的 daemon

似乎是跟 xulrunner 有關

if your version is etch, please change it into sid or lenny!
Then,
apt-get update; apt-get upgrade!
by the way, type apt-get install gtk-engine!
then you can upgrade you gtk to 2.10 to use firefox!

it IS gtk 2.1, I follow the instructions from web, ask to make dir inside the FF3, and edit ./firefox, insert some codes, I can load it, be just becomes OFF-LINE every time.

but 'unckeck' off-line work from Files CAN work this time.

後來看了家目錄的 prefs.js
其中有 user_pref("browser.offline", true);

於是我將它改成了 false

重新啟動 iceweasel
menu bar 拉下來看到的離線模式一樣呈現未勾選的狀態。
結果還是跟之前一樣，按什麼都沒反應。給什麼 url 都沒反應。

沒用。
就像狄奧的替身使者世界在出招一樣。

我是把它改成offline再改回來。

我只有在用3G撥接上網時候有遇過, 會不會跟ppp0及eth0之間的alias的問題?

有可能，等我回去把 Eeebox 放到IP分享器後面，不用 ppp0 的時候再試試看。

當然，也有可能是一個預兆，就是叫我要改用 epiphany 了也是不無可能。

we talk the firefox 3 is not means iceweaswl,
iceew. is FF2,
FF3 you can download from offical sites,

I use iceweasl only 1 time, then never use it, when I use the ture FF,
I go to location where I install it.
