xcin & emacs problems

i installed xcin
but dunno how to change to chinese input mode
can anyone teach me?

bash-2.05b# xcin
XCIN (Chinese XIM server) version 2.5.3-pre2.
(module ver: 20010918, syscin ver: 20000210).
(use "-h" option for help)

xcin: locale "zh_TW" encoding "big5"
xcin: XIM server "xcin-zh_TW" transport "X/"
xcin: inp_styles: Root OverTheSpot

also i can't see any words in emacs in gnome

或是按：ctrl + alt + [1,2,3,4,5,6]

Try this:

代碼: 選擇全部

$LANG=zh_TW.Big5 xcin&
$export XMODIFIERS=@im=xcin
$gvim


or this, if that doesn't work:

代碼: 選擇全部

$xcin&
$export XMODIFIERS=@im=xcin-zh_TW
$gvim


My emacs works out-of-the-box. Maybe you should try another distro out...

what do u mean out-of-the-box? do you mean all the charaters are changed in the boxes?

It works out of the box means it "just works" with default settings.
The switching distro thing was actually a joke... How did you install your current distro (Debian?) if you don't know how?
