3anoppix knx-hdinstall xcin

Yo.

Got few questions to ask.

1) After i knx-hdinstall 3anoppix to the harddisk. XCIN does not work. The box just not coming out after the xcin command. The debug message has no problem. What should i check ... (It was working while it boots on CD)

2) I have a BUFALLO wireless USB device. I assume it is a prism2_usb module. How to let a prism2_usb being searched when 3anoppix as a boot cd. i.e. wlan0

The debug message after xcin launch.

knoppix@test:~$ xcin

xcin: locale "zh_TW.Big5" encoding "big5"
zh_TW.Big5,zh_TW
xcin: XIM server "xcin" transport "X/"
xcin: inp_styles: Root OverTheSpot

Nothing happen after that. The box did not come out.
Please help.

xcin開啟正常呢，所用的ap有在xcin啟動之後執行嗎？

I did open up K editor.

Clicking Ctrl + Shift. Nothing Happen.



I was wondering whether it is my 3anoppix CD problem. Because there was some message about the input/Output Error during knx-hdinstall. It might ruin some binary. But i have already

dpkg -P xcin
apt-get install xcin

using the default source list 3anoppix provides.

Any clue.

One simple rule to test it :

* lunch crxvt
* use command "locale " to check the envrionment if is correct.
* use command " ps aux | grep xcin " to check xcin if is alive.
* If all of above is okay then press the "Ctrl + Space" to switch to the chinese input mode. And key something to see what happen.

Still nothing happen after the test.

I did try opening xcinterm-big5 and it is working fine.

Just now, got an error messages from xcin:

xcin: cannot load IM: dayi3@big5, ignore.
xcin: cannot load IM: wubi_b5@big5, ignore.

Now.

xcin: locale "zh_TW.Big5" encoding "big5"
zh_TW.Big5,zh_TW
xcin: IMOpenIM() with name "xcin" transport "X/" failed.

And i did check up the locale -a

there is no zh_TW.Big5 but
zh_TW
zh_TW.euctw
zh_TW.utf8

Any Other thought.

這部份一定要注意:: debian:/#apt-get install locales
(最近好像unstable的locale有問題..所以我決定先裝好舊的locale)
請選擇 zh_TW.Big5 ..而zh_TW.UTF8好像有問題..所以只有zh_TW.Big5就好了

請打打看locale -a 是否有zh_TW.Big5出現,如果沒有.請check是那裡出問題.或是問問看
而如果只有zh_TW出現..那麼我建議你
在/usr/lib/locale/下
debian:/usr/lib/locale#ln -s zh_TW zh_TW.Big5
之後再打打看locale -a 是否出現zh_TW.Big5

I wonder it is the unstable problem, which yagiza points out.

If it is how could i just fall back to use the stable locale package ???

please add the "stable" to the sources.list

and then

apt-get install -t stable locales

or apt-get install locales=2.2.5-11.5 (prepare to fix the dependency problem)

or try to learn the aptitude and easy to downgrade

I've installed a whole new debian on my notebook..

I've some symptons as yours , but I solved them now

here is a checklist
0. your xcin and libtabe2

apt-get install xcin libtabe2

it seems that you have some input method not found..
try this ..


1. locale
zh_TW.Big5 is sure required.. Perhaps zh_TW is ok..
I don't know.. check your /usr/lib/locale
if zh_TW exists, try ln -s zh_TW zh_TW.Big5
and rerun locale-gen or dpkg-reconfigure locales

2. your locale-a
I've read your locale-a
It seems everything is perfect. now
added following lines in your ~/.bash_profile

export LC_ALL=zh_TW.Big5
export LANG=zh_TW.Big5
export XMODIFIERS="@im=xcin"

added following lines in your ~/.bash_xinitrc

export LC_ALL=zh_TW.Big5
export LANG=zh_TW.Big5
export XMODIFIERS="@im=xcin"
#xcin & #(uncomment this line of xcin is ok)

and try to substitude zh_TW.Big5 into zh_TW if this
configuration failed

3. run any program such as mlterm or konqueror
try to press "Ctrl+Space"

xcin is running well on my notebook ... but my /usr/lib/locale is vacant ... with only one file named locale-archive , perhaps it's because I've upgraded to unstable already.

works in debian??

I assumed you type

try to add a line in /etc/modules

But since 3anoppix was burn in a CD, I don't know how to modify a file already burned.

By the way, in the console the chinese does not display correctly. It displays with some unknown characters. May be another hint to solve the problem ???

About yagiza's second post. My question was not clear. None of the USB wireless works at the moment. I think. orinoco_usb is developing. My buffalo wireless lan don't like to work. My orinoco usb has the light on, but won't recongize itself.

I was wondering how could i set wlan0 to use prism2_usb automatically while the system boot up, so may be can recongize my orinoco usb device or perhaps the buffalo usb device.

localization -> language-country-> taiwan and chinese

oh .. did you install kde-i18n-zhtwbig5??

I don't know which chipset is used in the Buffalo USB wireless. I am using PLANEX(PCI) GW-NS11H with Intersil Prism3 chipset . I've noticed that someboy claimed Prism2 works correctly with orinoco_cs.o. I've tried that, but failed. But I'm using the wvlan_cs.o . It works great![/code]
