可是現在重灌了woody之後.....
她都說 沒有e這個option

就是她把reconfig 拆開了ㄟ.....

請問一下怎麼會這樣?

一個是產生XF86Config-4
一個是產生XF86Config??

I am also a newbie to Linux, here is what I think, and please correct me if I am wrong.

In Debian we can have both XFree86 3.x and 4.x, so there need to be two configuration files. So 3.x uses /etc/X11/XF86Config and 4.x uses /etc/X11/XF86Config-4.

Both ``dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86'' and ``xf86config'' try to modify the XFree86 configuration file, and which one they modify depends on their own settings. It seems that dpkg-reconfigure knows which version of XFree86 you are using and can choose the correct file.

訪客兄說的沒錯..

xf86config 是 XFree86 自己提供的 configure tools. 而 dpkg -reconfigure 則是 debian 提供的 configure tools. 目的都相同..都是為了設定 XFree86 ，但是使用 debian 的 tools 應該會比較好，因為 xf86config 只考慮了 XFree86 本身，但是 debian 的 tools 勢必也有將 debian 系統一併考量...

另外也可用 XFree86 -configure, 會產一個 XF86Config.new 裡面有你的顥示晶片的可調整的選項, 滿詳細的, 修改好之後, 可用 XFree86 -xf86config XF86Config.new 測試看看, 沒問題了再放到 /etc/X11 底下
