Cannot open linux after upgrade kernel from 2.4.18 to 2.4.19

After i using apt-get upgrade my kernel, everything is look like quite good.
Then, when i reboot the computer and choose Linux on lilo, it show:

Please append a correct "root=" boot option

What is the problem??? I also can't open the old version linux, it show the same message while booting!!!
Please help me...

另外，root fs是甚麼呢？

I don't know what is root fs.....
my root partition is hda1.

My main problem now is i can't open linux, i can't change the setting. Can anyone teach me how i can open linux now??

The problem is fixed

I think i haven't make the symbolic link correct before.
But everything is fixed now...Thank you

so...perhaps wrong options or description in lilo.conf
