出現“cannot connect to X server”的錯誤

小弟的系統出現了這個錯誤，想請問一下大家怎麼解決？

dpkg-preconfigure: cannot connect to X server
(Reading database ...
dpkg: serious warning: files list file for package `libct1' missing, assuming package has no files currently installed.
85996 files and directories currently installed.)

猜想是之前將gdm移除改裝kdm時，不小心將重要的軟體移除了，目前不知道應該怎麼解決，因為，我還是可以進入到X Windows的畫面，Gnome還是可以進去，沒有問題。謝謝

請試著在 X Window 下，
使用 su 來切換至 root，
然後再試一次...

下面是我在移除gdm時所出現的訊息

Removing gdm ...
frontend: cannot connect to X server
dpkg: error processing gdm (--remove):
subprocess pre-removal script returned error exit status 1
frontend: cannot connect to X server
dpkg: error while cleaning up:
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
dpkg: error processing libct1 (--remove):
Package is in a very bad inconsistent state - you should
reinstall it before attempting a removal.

之前也有試過以root帳號進X Window，但是，會crash down，因此，再重新設定一次，雖然不會再crash down，但是，安裝時仍然會出現cannot connect to X server的問題

試試將其重新安裝後再行移除：

試了一段時間，總算是找著了問題的根源了
在將woody升級為sarge時沒有將libqt-perl這個package裝上，因此在setting up package時會出現下面的錯誤訊息：

debconf: (Can't locate Qt.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /etc/perl /usr/local/lib/perl/5.8.3 /usr/local/share/perl/5.8.3 /usr/lib/perl5 /usr/share/perl5 /usr/lib/perl/5.8 /usr/share/perl/5.8 /usr/local/lib/site_perl .) at /usr/share/perl5/Debconf/FrontEnd/Kde/Wizard.pm line 7.)

當時我不以為意，因此，才會造成之後安裝軟體時一直出現“frontend: cannot connect to X server ”的錯誤
