<p><strong>Handling Donations for Debian.</strong> Martin Michlmayr <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce-0305/msg00007.html">\
announced</a> that Mako Hill will compile a list of donations to the Debian
project that were collected outside of <a href="http://www.spi-inc.org/">\
SPI</a> and <a href="http://www.ffis.de/">ffis</a>, two non-profit
organisations that partner with Debian. The people who hold still Debian
money (e.g., from previous trade shows) are asked to <a
href="mailto:accountant@debian.org">contact</a> him.</p>

<p><strong>Report from Webb.it.</strong> Federico Di Gregorio wrote a <a
href="http://www.debian.org/events/2003/0509-webbit-report">report</a> about the Debian
presence at the <a href="http://www.debian.org/events/2003/0509-webbit">webb.it</a>
conference that took place from 9th to 11th of May in Padova, Italy. More
than 1000 workshops were held during this conference. Italian Debian people
met a lot of other people interested in Free Software, installed Debian on
some machines, signed GPG keys, participated and held workshops and showed to
visitors a cluster of 4 Xbox machines running Debian.</p>

<p><strong>Important Change in lm-sensors.</strong> David Maze <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-0305/msg00755.html">reported</a>
that the binary interface in libsensors1 has changed between lm-sensors 2.6.5
and 2.7.0 without a corresponding change in the library's soname. The correct
action would be a changed soname which has to be done upstream, who did not
yet respond. It has been suggested that he changes the soname of the library
within Debian in the meantime.</p>


<p><strong>【關於 lm-sensors 的重大改變】</strong> David Maze
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-0305/msg00755.html">回報</a>說，
libsensors1 的二元碼介面(binary interface)在版本 2.6.5 到 2.7.0 之間改變了，
但卻沒有同時更動對應的函式庫 SONAME。
雖然正確的作法應該是由上層的維護者來更動 SONAME，但目前上層
仍未作出回應。因此 David 建議由他來更動 Debian 的函式庫。</p>

<p><strong>Translation Dispute about changed Layout.</strong> There is a <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-l10n-french-0305/msg00121.html">\
dispute</a> between the Apache maintainers and the French translation team.
The cause is a changed format of the package description for the French
translation which is not coherent with the original anymore. Matthias Urlichs
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-0305/msg00946.html">added</a>
that in his opinion there is a perfectly valid reason to reformat the
description since English text usually is shorter than the equivalent in other
languages.</p>


<p><strong>【翻譯文件格式變更所引發的爭議】</strong> 在 Apache 的維護小組與法文翻譯小組之間產生了一些
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-l10n-french-0305/msg00121.html">爭議</a>，
原因是法文版套件說明的翻譯格式與原本的格式不一致。 Matthias Urlichs
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-0305/msg00946.html">表示</a>
，他認為有足夠的理由更改格式，因為英文文句通常比

<p><strong>Translation of Manual Pages.</strong> Denis Barbier <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-0305/msg01089.html">noticed</a>
that there is currently no consensus whether translated manpages should be
shipped along with original manpages or within manpages-xx packages. This
leads to conflicts when a translation is first shipped by the latter, then
incorporated into the former (e.g. when it becomes part of upstream
tarball).</p>


<p><strong>【說明文件譯本的套件歸屬問題】</strong> Denis Barbier <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-0305/msg01089.html">注意到</a>
目前缺乏關於翻譯文件歸屬的共識，究竟應將翻譯過的說明文件隨著
原始文件發行，或者獨立成 manpaes-xx 套件。
缺乏共識導致當翻譯文件先以獨立套件發行，但又在原始文件的套件中
發行重複發行時發生衝突。</p>

<p><strong>New-Maintainers' Package Repository.</strong> Daniel K. Gebhart <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-0305/msg00756.html">announced</a>
the <a href="http://mentors.debian.net/">Debian Mentors Project</a> which
implements a package repository for people who have applied to become a Debian
developer but are not yet accepted. Since only registered Debian developers
are allowed to upload packages directly into the official Debian archive,
prospective Developers are invited to use this service.</p>


<p><strong>【准發展人員用的套件庫】</strong> Daniel K. Gebhart <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-0305/msg00756.html">發表</a>了
<a href="http://mentors.debian.net/">Debian Mentors Project</a>。
這個計畫提供了一個套件庫給申請成為 Debian 發展人員但尚未被核准的人使用。
只有完成註冊的發展人員才有直接上傳到 Debian 官方檔案庫，
准發展人員則可以利用本計畫提供的服務上傳。</p>

<p><strong>Going to DebConf 3.</strong> Joachim Breitner <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-0305/msg00907.html">wondered</a> if
<a href="$(HOME)/events/2003/0718-debconf">DebConf</a> is worth attending even
if one is not yet a registered developer. Andreas Tille <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-0305/msg00918.html">explained</a>
that DebConf in Bordeaux was his most productive time to work for Debian. He
adds that the fun thing is that there are a lot of competent people to ask for
help solving problems.</p>

<p><strong>【值得參加 DebConf 3 嗎】</strong> Joachim Breitner <a

若還不是註冊過的開發人員，是否值得參加 DebConf 呢？ Andreas Tille <a

<p><strong>Splitting off non-free Documentation.</strong> Colin Watson <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-legal-0305/msg00250.html">announced</a>
that he finally split non-free components off of the <code>doc-linux</code>
package. The new package <code>doc-linux-nonfree</code> is waiting for
ftpmaster approval, and may take a little while since it has a monster
copyright file. Currently, just under 10 % of the HOWTO and mini-HOWTO
documents are in non-free.</p>

<p><strong>【將 non-free 文件分裝】</strong> Colin Watson
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-legal-0305/msg00250.html">宣佈</a>
他終於將 <code>doc-linux</code> 中 non-free 部份的自原套件中分離了。
分離出來的新套件為 <code>doc-linux-nonfree</code>，目前正在
等待 ftpmaster 的審核。審核時間可能會有點長，因為本套件的版權宣告
相當複雜。到目前為止，只有不到 10% 的 HOWTO 及 mini-HOWTO 文件
被列為 non-free。</p>

<p><strong>Debian GNU/FreeBSD Milestone.</strong> Robert Millan <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-bsd-0305/msg00002.html">announced</a>
that his GNU/FreeBSD chroot jail is finally self-hosting and that he was able
to build working packages of glibc 2.3, GCC 3.2.3 and binutils inside the
jail. The <a href="http://people.debian.org/~rmh/gnu-freebsd/">tarball</a>
has been uploaded, but explicitly states that this tarball is useless for
anything other than development or bug fixing.</p>

<p><strong>【 Debian GNU/FreeBSD 里程碑】</strong>Robert Millan <a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-bsd-0305/msg00002.html">宣布</a>他的 GNU/FreeBSE chroot jail 終於能夠 self-hosting，他可以在這個 jail 中編譯出有作用的 glibc 2.3，GCC 3.2.3 及binutils。這個 <a href="http://people.debian.org/~rmh/gnu-freebsd/">tarball</a> 已上傳，但是也明確地表示這個 tarball 除了對開發及修正 bug 外並沒有任何的用處。</p>

<p><strong>Report from the IFIT Conference.</strong> A <a
href="$(HOME)/events/2003/0509-ifit-report">report</a> about the Debian
presence at the <a href="$(HOME)/events/2003/0509-ifit">IFIT</a>
(Informationday Free Information Technology) that took place on 9th and
10th of May in Innsbruck, Austria, is online. The conference started with a
panel discussion with politicians and continued with several workshops that
gave a detailed view of many projects, including the Debian development
model.</p>

<p><strong>【 IFIT 會議報告】</strong>一份有關 Debian 的<a href="$(HOME)/events/2003/0509-ifit-report">報告</a>已上線了，這是於五月9日及10日在澳洲 Innsbruk 舉行的 IFIT（Informationday Free Information Technology）中所發表的。這個會議從政治家的討論會開始，到許多專題研討會，提供了細節觀點給許多計劃，包括了 Debian 的發展模式。</p>

<p><strong>DFSG Analysis of Default LDP License.</strong> Branden Robinson <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-legal-0305/msg00282.html">investigated</a>
the <a href="http://www.tldp.org/manifesto.html">default license</a> of the <a
href="http://www.tldp.org/">Linux Documentation Project</a> (LDP) in detail.
It is also the most popular license among LDP documents. He proposed to
rewrite several sections though, but the license basically is compliant with
the <a href="$(HOME)/social_contract#guidelines">Debian Free Software
Guidelines</a>.</p>

<p><strong>Testing the new Voting Scripts.</strong> Manoj Srivastava is
currently <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-0305/msg01289.html">conducting</a>
a vote to test the new voting scripts. He is running this vote on his home
machine, pending the resolution of the fact that devotee does not run on
potato (vote.debian.org runs potato). This vote includes a good test of the
super majority calculations, since two of the options require super majority.
The test vote involves picking one of nine colors and as Manoj said: "May the
best color win."</p>

<p><strong>【測試新的投票命令稿】</strong> Manoj Srivastava 正在<a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-0305/msg01289.html">舉辦</a>
一次投票來測試新的投票命令稿。 投票在 Manoj 自己的機器上執行，因為新的
