<p><strong>【Quantian 0.5.9.1 釋出】</strong>
Dirk Eddelbuettel
<a href="http://dirk.eddelbuettel.com/blog/2004/06/14/#uploaded_0.5.9.1">發佈</a> 了 Quantian 的新版本，Quantian 是修改自 <a href="http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/">Knoppix</a>，主要提供給計量及資料處理領域方面的理論工作者使用。這個新版本只能使用 DVD 安裝，其容量塞不進 CD-ROM。沒有 DVD 的使用者可以利用儲存在硬碟中的 ISO 映像檔來<a href="http://dirk.eddelbuettel.com/blog/2004/06/16#howto_winboot">開機</a>。

<p><strong>【GNOME 2.6 進入 testing 版本】</strong>
在發佈管理團隊<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-release/2004/05/msg00126.html">允准</a> GNOME 2.6 從 experimental 版本移植到 unstable 版本之後不到一個月，最新版的 GNOME 已開始散佈進 Testing 版本 (Sarge)。Jordi Mallach 並<a href="http://oskuro.net/~jordi/blog/freesoftware/gnome-mayhem-2004-06-18-00-33.html">提供</a>了一些套件臭蟲的暫時處理方法。

<p><strong>【Debian X11 套件的未來】</strong>
Fabio Massimo Di Nitto，Debian 現任 X11 套件的發佈管理者<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2004/06/msg00979.html">詢問</a>關於這些套件將來發展方向的意見。由於許可證的改變，Debian 將不再使用 <a href="http://www.xfree86.org">XFree86</a> 作為上游套件。 Keith Packard <a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2004/06/msg01006.html">建議</a>直接撤換掉整個原始碼套件並改用 <a href="http://www.x.org">X.org</a>作為新的上游套件。Daniel Stone 也<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2004/06/msg01051.html">列出</a>了一些其他的替代方案。

<p><strong>【Debian 安裝程式對由右向左書寫的支援】</strong>
感謝 Steve Langase 及 Christian Perrier，目前 Debian 安裝程式已經<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-boot/2004/06/msg01803.html">支援</a>像阿拉伯文、希伯來文、波斯文這種由右向左書寫(right-to-left RTL)的<a href="http://people.debian.org/~bubulle/d-i/screenshots/">語文</a>。因此，Debian 將是第一個從安裝程式開始就支援 RTL 語言的 GNU/Linux 套件。至於 debconf 第二階段安裝以及重開機之後的主控台在 RTL 語言上的支援則仍待完成。

<p><strong>【Mozilla 公眾許可證 1.1 版】</strong>
MJ Ray <a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-legal/2004/06/msg00514.html">張貼</a>了一份關於 <a href="http://www.mozilla.org/MPL/MPL-1.1.html">Mozilla 許可證 1.1 版</a>的新訊息, 他表示 MPL 並不完全與 DFSG 一致，並且最好應該像以前一樣逐一檢查個別的條款。目前這個討論仍繼續進行著並且已找出更多的資料，特別是有關選擇審判籍方面的問題。

<p><strong>【Debian 安裝程式 TC2 版本的準備狀況】</strong>
Joey Hess 張貼了一份<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-boot/2004/06/msg02369.html">更新訊息</a>，內容是關於 <a href="http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/">Debian 安裝程式(debian-installer)</a> 測試過程中一些重要及未解決的項目。他試著追蹤已發佈的一些重要項目，並取得一些修正檔進行測試。他計畫在取得 <a href="http://packages.debian.org/libdebian-installer">libdebian-installer</a> 和 busybox 的修正檔加以測試之後，利用自動編譯程式做出另一個官方版的 debian-installer 映像檔。前述版本將被稱之為 Test Candidate 2，並且用它來作第二輪的測試以便驗證是否可以作最後的發佈。

<p><strong>【Debian GNU/kFreeBSD live CD】</strong>
Robert Millan <a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-bsd/2004/06/msg00014.html">建構</a>了一個 GNU/kFreeBSD <a href="http://people.debian.org/~rmh/livecd/">live CD</a>。一份新的安裝指南可在<a href="http://svn.debian.org/viewcvs/glibc-bsd/trunk/web/kfreebsd/INSTALL?view=auto&rev=65">此處</a>取得。這個 ISO 映像檔包含了一個 GNU/kFreeBSD 的基礎救援系統。它只用來作一些簡單的工作和測試並不支援可寫入的檔案系統以及其他的開發工具。

<p><strong>【Debian-Women 通信群組上線】</strong>
Pascal Hakim <a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-women/2004/06/msg00000.html">表示</a> <a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-women">debian-women</a> 通信論壇現在已經上線。這是一個為想要招攬更多女性進入 Debian 計畫的使用者和開發者所設立的無限制通信論壇。你可以在上面討論或分享觀點以及共同合作一些計畫。

<p><strong>【就 Openswan 捨 Freeswan 】</strong>
Rene Mayrhofer 就目前他在 freeswan 套件所遇到的困難提出<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2004/06/msg01460.html">討論</a>。他提到 freeswan 套件的臭蟲列表實在太長了而且雖然在一年前就開始進行改善的工作，但是他無法補正所有 freeswan 和核心的各種可能組合。Rene 對這個情形的偏好解決方案是希望能就 Openswan 捨 Freeswan。

<p><strong>【移除過期的翻譯文件】</strong>
Javier Fernández-Sanguino Peña <a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-www/2004/07/msg00015.html">發現</a>如果經過六個月沒有更新的話，翻譯文件就會從網站上移除。他覺得有些英語版 wml 檔案的改變不過是詞語上的修飾，翻譯的版本也許並不需要更新。因此他要求只刪除過期太久的翻譯文件(超過五個版本沒進行更新)。Peter Karlsson <a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-www/2004/07/msg00019.html">並不同意</a>這會是一個問題。他認為翻譯團隊超過六個月沒有任何更新的回應就是算過期了。

<p><strong>【關於檔案金鑰的指紋】</strong>
Martin F Krafft<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2004/06/msg01499.html">指出</a>由於從 APT 0.6 版開始將會檢查套件的簽章，因此檔案的簽章金鑰對 Debian 的使用者而言將越來越重要。但是他在網頁上並找不到如何取得或確認金鑰的相關連結，因此他建議建立一個網頁來解釋金鑰及其信任機制，並且公佈相關的金鑰指紋。Frank Lichtenheld <a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2004/06/msg01525.html">指出</a>金鑰在網頁上確實有<a href="http://www.debian.org/releases/">連結</a>存在，只是並非那麼明顯。
</p>


<p><strong>【Sarge 版本的 Debian 安裝程式已崩潰】</strong>
Joey Hess <a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-boot/2004/07/msg00053.html">檢視</a>了 sarge 版本的 debian-installer 並斷定它已經崩潰。他發覺許多的改變造成相依性的瓦解。他認為目前 sid 版本的 debian-installer 在臭蟲數量上比 sarge 要少而且 sid 在發展上差異也大因此顯得維護 sarge 並不是一件容易的事。他可能會放棄採用漸漸增加套件到 sarge 的方式，並改而採用製作 snapshot 的版本，期待它大部份運作正常，然後再把所有東西包進 sarge 作釋出。

<p><strong>【德國安全局使用 Debian】</strong>
<a href="http://www.bsi.bund.de/">德國資訊科技安全局</a>(BSI)<a href="http://www.heise.de/newsticker/meldung/48828">發佈</a>了一款僅有德文版的"安全局桌面應用套件(agency-desktop)"。這是屬於與 <a href="http://www.credativ.de/">credativ GmbH</a> 公司所合作的 ERPOSS 專案的一部份。該套件包含了 Debian GNU/Linux，KDE 3.2，一個已設定妥當可供使用的個人防火牆以及整合了過濾垃圾信及掃毒功能的 Kmail。BSI 並提供 <a href="http://www.bsi.bund.de/produkte/erposs3/ERPOSS3_LIVECD.ISO">live CD</a>以及<a href="http://www.bsi.bund.de/produkte/erposs3/ERPOSS3_INSTALLATION.ISO">安裝光碟</a>下載的服務。

目前中文版停留在之前jesse.sung和網友們合作的部份，

小弟所翻譯的 2004 的部份都還沒進 CVS，目前還在等于廣輝先生
製作相關的格式轉換以及template。
