（Virginia）的 Debian 使用者可能會只是因為安裝了一些平常的 Debian 套件而[1]

【第三屆 Debian 研討會(DebConf 3)的最新消息】 Tollef Fog Heen 發佈了一份關於
第三屆 Debian 研討會(DebConf3)的[5]最新消息。研討會將於07月18日到20日於挪威
的Oslo 舉行，緊鄰本會議之前，DebCamp 將於07月12日到17日登場。DebCamp 會針對
較急迫的問題進行處理，例如 debian-installer 或重要的 bug。若天氣許可的話，晚
上我們會用來烤肉、和戶外的蚊蟲為伴，以及進行其它有趣的活動。非常感謝 HP 及
Lindows 贊助本次活動。有意參加者請利用網路進行[6]報名。

【升級之後字型變醜】 Andreas Tille [7]注意到 Emaces
在狀態欄、選單等處的字型都很醜陋，其他重要的功能也受到影響而幾乎無法使用。
Ian Wienand [8]報告說造成問題的套件似乎是 gsfonts-x11，在移除這個套件後他的
字型看上去和以前一樣了。Branden Robinson [9]解釋說大家看到的醜陋的字型是和
XFree86 一起發佈的新的 Type1 Helvetica 字型。把這個字型移除，或是把它移到字
型列表的最下面都能解決這個問題。

【大事記】 有人在[10]討論 Debian 是不是該包含一個記載 Debian 重要日子的大事
記（是否包含在 bsdmainutils 中皆可），如發行日期、重要開發人員過世的日子等。
如果您希望透過 calendar 來了解一些特別的日子，有三個公用的[11]紀念日資料檔可
用。Bob Proulx [12]建議製作一個套件，利用 cronjob 來提醒使用者這些特別的日
子，不過許多人反對這個做法。

【GNU 的 GPL 和 OPL】 Tatsuya Kinoshita（木下達也）
[13]懷疑 [14]Open Publication License（OPL）和 [15]GNUGPL 是否相容。他引述了
OPL 中的一段，而這個部份和 GPL 似乎並不相容。他也希望Debian 的 [16]網頁從現
行的採用 OPL 授權，改為用 OPL 和 GNU GPL 兩種授權方式並行。

【將文件檔包裝成獨立套件】 Andreas Tille [17]想知道是否有明文規定何時應該將
文件檔從套件中獨立出來，製作成另一個套件。Oliver Elphick[18]解釋說許多人只
想安裝某套件，但不需要它的相關文件。將文件檔獨立成另一套件的目的，是要減少這
些朋友下載套件的時間。不過增加套件的數量會增加伺服器的負擔，因此我們得要在這
兩者間找到平衡點。

【新的波蘭文翻譯計畫】 Bartosz Fenski [19]宣佈（波蘭文）一個新的翻譯計畫
[20]Polish Debian Documentation Project（PDDP）正式開始運作。現在 PDDP
中沒有 Debian 開發人員，不過這個狀況似乎將有改變。這個團隊的主要目標是要將
Debian 文件翻譯為波蘭文，並協助 DWN 的翻譯工作。他們現在正在翻譯

【BTS 的 Confirmed 標籤】 Anthony Towns
[22]宣佈新增了一個『confirmed』標籤供套件維護者在錯誤追蹤系統（bug
tracking system，BTS）中使用。這個標籤是表示維護者已收到並瞭解該
bug，並且基本上同意這個 bug 的存在，但是尚未修正它。因此，被標為
『unreproducible』或『moreinfo』的 bug 基本上不會被標為『confirmed』。
被標為『help』的 bug 則要視所需要的協助而定。BTS 的 [23]搜尋功能可以用來列出
一個套件的 confirmed、 un-confirmed 和被標上其它標籤的 bug。

【套件尚未進入 testing 的原因】 Bj顤n Stenberg [24]寫了一個分析
[25]update_excuses.html 和 [26]update_output.txt的[27]命令稿（script），來為
『為什麼某套件尚未進入 testing？』這樣的問題提供較易於理解的答案（human-
readable answers）。輸入套件名稱後，這個命令稿就會告訴您為什麼該套件
還沒進入 testing。舉例來說，它會告訴你 libbonoboui 在等 gnome-vfs2，在後者又
在等 fam。

【Sarge 現況】 Drew Scott Daniels [28]發表了發行 sarge
的相關問題最新列表。其中列出了發行 sarge 前必須完成的事項，各事項的現況以及
優先程度。列表中包含了 testing 中的[29]現有問題、[30]XFree86 現況、debian-
installer [31]移植到其它平台的情況、在 sarge 中使用 [32]Linux Kernel 2.6 的

【DBD::mysql 的版權問題?】 Steve Langasek 的一個[34]錯誤報告（bug report）引
起了一連串的[35]討論：如果一個命令稿（script）使用自由軟體授權的解譯器
（interpreter）和函式庫，但是它使用和 GPL 不相容的授權方式的話，Debian
是否可以納入這個程式？因為新的 libmysqlclient12 套件使用 GPL 授權，如果有以
不相容於 GPL 的方式授權的程式使用 libdbd-mysql-perl（DBD::mysql）的話，會違
反 libmysqlclient12 的授權方式。

【用 GNU FDL 對付 GNU FDL】 Peter Galbraith [36]建議在 Emacs info
檔中加入一個恆常章節(invariant section)，在其中向大家解釋為何文件作者不該採
用 [37]GNU Free Documentation License（FDL）。不過，Brian M. Carlson [38]說
Debian 無法合法地[39]包含這樣子的 info 文件。因為 GNU FDL 和 GPL 不相容，從
採 GNU FDL 授權的 textinfo 原始碼來產生 info 文件都是不被允許的。

【GNU Emacs 中有 non-free 的元件？】 J廨獽e Marant [40]懷疑兩篇隨著 GNU
Emacs 發行的[41]文[42]件使用 non-free 的授權方式。這兩個檔案和 FSF
網頁上的檔案內容有點不同。有人認為這兩個是聲明（manifesto）而不是一般的文
件，因此，『不能修改它們的內容』應該是可接受的。

【判斷所使用的字元編碼】 Bob Hilliard
[43]想知道若不用人工檢視整個文件檔，是否有辦法判斷該檔案所使用的編碼方式。
Martin von Loewis [44]說這是沒辦法自動完成的。如果您知道檔案裡面的內容，您可
以用不同的編碼方式試試，看看哪一種可以讓您得到預期的結果。以人工方式進行的話
，最好是能利用 /usr/share/i18n/charmaps。
