Job Summary:
The OEM team develops products and produces custom variants of Ubuntu of the latest hardware designs such as laptops, netbooks, desktops, and mobile devices. This role requires a hands-on manager with a broad knowledge of modern QA techniques, open source test tools, and the Linux software stack.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
* Manage local staff in Taipei and remote workers in Mainland China
* Liaise with customers
* Lead a team of 8 people +
* Work closely with QA Manager to improve process and tools across the team.
* Represent QA interests in top level discussions with customers and potential customers
* Cultivate and maintain cooperative relationships with customer QA resources
* Work with hardware partners on adapting the test framework to suit their needs
* Provide technical leadership, oversight, and mentoring of team
* Prepare time estimates and schedule testing activities
* Track and report testing progress across multiple projects and customers
* Assist in resource and capacity planning
* Participate in regular development "sprints" involving international travel
Required skills and experience:
* 5 years + of Team Management experience or equivalent
* 7 years + of experience in Software Quality Assurance or equivalent
* Strong Linux technical knowledge
* Solid grasp of commercial QA practices
* Excellent logic, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills
* Strong English language communication skills and fluency in Mandarin
* Ability to be productive in a globally distributed team through self-discipline and self-motivation, delivering according to a schedule
