安裝ati驅動程式 in linux for 2/3D acceleration

我日前向朋友商借了一塊 ATi 9550 的顯示卡。

XFree86 4.3 的 ati 模組就可以驅動這張顯示卡了，
所以無法編譯 ATi 官方驅動程式時，
也不用太擔心。

它也可以用 vesa 這個驅動模組。
相較之下，我的 nVIDIA TI 4200 就沒辨法。

vesa 模組在字體的表現上（感覺上）比較漂亮。

感謝提供此訊息，對買卡的朋友是值得欣喜的...

至於柔化螢幕...小弟認為各家顯視卡在顏色預設直上都不太一樣，所以可能會有此感覺，對顏色有需求的玩家也指稱 ATi 對顏色加料不少...

make bzImage 後, 修改 version.h UTS_RELEASE 為 2.6.6-1-686 (uname -r 結果為2.6.6-1-686 而version.h 原內容為 2.6.6); 並執行 make.sh
不過出現

但我確定我的 XFree86 version 是 4.1.0以上.
kernel 也是比2.4.8 新.
請問是不是那個步驟出錯呢?? 我kernel source 是 apt-get install 2.6.6的版本 這樣會有問題嗎??

幾個問題想請教一下 , XFree86提供的ati driver 和 ati 提供的差在那邊呢?? (3D嗎??) 我的是 ati radeon 9700.
BTW, 我在make menuconfig後, 不能make dep.

Hi kernel-2.6 請改成 make bzImage 才會產生 version.h

至於 ATi official 與 XFree86 比較明顯的差別就是 3D support，至於 2D/雙螢幕/Xvido 加速都有支援呢...



BTW...目前小弟並沒有 ATi 的顯視卡了，所以無法測試(如果有朋友有多的且不需要，希望能賣給小弟...)，聽說新版的驅動已經不用 force-rewrite

補充一下
如果是用 2.6.7-mm1 以上的 kernel
要有 3D 加速的話
可以用這一個<a href="http://blog.kclin.net/src/ati/build_mod-3.9.0-regparm.tar.bz2">ati檔案</a>

解開後在folder下
1. sh make.sh
2. cp 2.6.x/fglrx.ko /lib/modules/[kernel版本]/kernel/drivers/char/drm/
3. depmod -a

重開機就有了

我在執行阿信兄的第四項時並沒有產生"modversion.h"這個檔

4:make menuconfig;make dep(此步驟是為了建立kernel source dir中的modversion.h和version.h)

導致執行sh make.sh時出錯
此檔要如何才能產生呢?
又我的 /usr/src/linux/include/linux/ 底下有"modsetver.h"
這個檔案它跟"modversion.h"是相同的嗎?

請問兩下 我載入fglrx後還是沒辦法開啟3d 有什麼情形會這樣子呢
執行:fglrxinfo

執行glxgears

然後我用Error: couldn't get an RGB, Double-buffered visual在google搜尋後看到有人說"I had this same problem, check if you've got libglx.a in /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/? If not, copy it over there and try to restart X.."
執行 locate libglx.a 果結發現我根本沒那個檔案
那個檔案可以在那找到呢
還是有其他源因呢 PS我有裝

請問裝了fglrx後會造成kde中控制中心的顯示不能改解晰度嗎 (alt+ctrl+ "+")還是有用不過 kde的控制中心上寫 your X server does not support resizing and rotating the display. Please update to version 4.3 or greater. You need the X Resize And Rotate extension (RANDR) version 1.1 or greater to use this feature. 我的系統是 kubuntu , xorg 的 該如何做呢

fglrx 並不支援Xrandr，所以別再試了吧（除非有新版的dirver)
