明天要買ati r9000 pro顯示卡

明天打算去買ati r9000 pro的顯示卡，目前xfree支援了8500以下的顯示卡。

至於r9000的話，可以用以下強迫法設定。

Driver "radeon"
ChipId 0x4242

這是強迫把r9000辨識成8500，但這樣作只能使用單輸出功能。

如果要雙輸出的話，要改成7500的0x5157 or VE 0x5159

The patch for Radoen 9000, M9 and Radeon 9700 2D support has been submitted and will be in XFree CVS tree in the near future.
9000 and 8500 don't share the same IDs, that's for sure. Meanwhile specifying ChipID in the config file with a 8500 or 7500 ID is a
correct solution for getting 9000 or M9 to work with the existing X4.2xx Radoen dirver (2D part only, note this won't work with 9700).
If you specify ChipID with a 8500 ID (0x4242 for example), it will only work with the single head config.
If you want both heads to work correctly with a dual-head/Xinerama setup, use a 7500 (0x5157) or a VE ID (0x5159 for example).

nono..已經出倒2.5.1了，想買ati卡的我怎麼會不知道呢？

但...ati release的driver對qt滿有問題的，只有support 2d，且

還會有dependency的問題，我很吐槽，其實xfree 4.3.x已經有support r9000了，

且dri的cvs版本已經support到8500的3d加速，現在xfree 4.2.1只有support 2d，

不管，先買回來測試再說。

已經買了，小弟買的是gigabyte r9000 pro

如果用mailing list中的方法，chipid 0x4242的話，小弟的pc只會重新開機而已，

無法使用x-win，所以目前是用ati release的driver且只copy dri driver這兩個目錄下的

.o檔案來使用，還不錯，2d有support，3d就算了吧，等未來的xfree吧。

我的Radeon在RH8.0沒有支援3D,在MDR9.0卻可以?
可以的意思是可跑"滑雪企鵝",RH要改哪裡?

mdk9可以支援，那應該是抓cvs的版本才是。

如果是的話，這就不是改那裡的問題，而是整個dri的版本問題，

小弟對redhat mandrake不熟，所以不便回答。
