RealPlayer 10 for Linux 正式推出

開發近兩年的 Helix Player 及 Real Player 10 終於推出了，各位可到以下網頁下載：

簡單來說，Helix Player 是完全開放源碼，並以 GPL 授權的媒體播放工具。而 Real Player 10 則是在 Helix Player 內加入了 Real media、MP3 及 Flash 等的 codec；因授權問題，這些 codec 不能隨便放入各 Linux distro 之中，像將推出的 Fedora Core 3 就只會加入 Helix Player。

註：在 Linux 版 Firefox 0.8-0.9.x 內啟動 Realplayer 存取 (*.ra, *.rm 等) 網上視像會有問題，這已記錄於 Firefox 的 bug 240068。在 Mozilla 1.6/1.7 反而沒有遇到這個問題，可以暫時用之存取 Real media 一類的網頁。更新：Firefox 1.0 已修正了此問題。

奇怪的是，播放一些.rm檔，會有這樣的錯誤訊息：

奇怪，古老的codec不是更應該被新的版本支援嗎？

Matt Campbell has contributed fully functional support for the usound server (see http://mattcamp.paunix.org/usound/)

Some support is available for ALSA and ESounD via CVS for developers interested in improving the Helix framework.

No support for arts, jack, mas, etc. is available or planned for the immediate future. Community contributions are welcome.

其實這兩個 Real Player 版本可以同時並存。

還有 Real Player 10 的瀏覽器 mozilla plugin，可以在 Mozilla 1.4+ 版裡正常運作；但 Real Player 8 的 plugin 好像就有不相容問題。

有點舊的版本耶,小弟從mozilla-1.6/1.7都能使用RealPlayer 8耶...zero0w兄要不要更新一下呢???

可能表示得不清楚

1.4+ 表示 1.4 及以後的版本，以後我會用 >=1.4 來表示。

Mozilla 自從 1.4 版起正式改用 gcc 3.2.x 來編譯，因此跟各種舊版本的 plugin 不相容；這情況也出現在一些舊版的 Flash plugin 上。

Real Player 8 plugin 的問題是出在 Embedded video 的網頁內，像這個：
